The mountain is actually 1365 meters high, but its summit is already across the border in Norway (where it is called Ráisduattarháldi). The mountain is located in the Scandinavian Mountains in Lapland in the Enontekiö district, within the Arctic Circle.

Halti is the highest peak in Finland, reaching 1324 m above sea level. It is located in the northern part of the country, in the Lapland region. Climbing Halti is not technically difficult, but one should be prepared for changing weather conditions and a long trail.

Weather

In the summer months of July and August, temperatures range from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. The weather is usually kind during these months, with plenty of sun and warmth. The trail is then clearly visible and easy to navigate.

In the winter, the trail to the summit of Halti can be very demanding. Temperatures drop below -20 degrees Celsius, and snow covers the entire trail. The trail is more difficult to identify, and climbing may require skills and specialized equipment.

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Kittilä Airport. After landing, you can rent a car and head north through the town of Muonio to Kilpisjärvi, where the trail to Halti begins. The entire drive takes about 4 hours.

The trailhead is located in the town of Kilpisjärvi, where it is worth parking your car in one of the local parking lots. The trail is well marked, and easy to find.
