Introduction

Mont Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe, reaching an elevation of 4810 meters. Climbing Mont Blanc is difficult and demanding, with steep sections along the trail, glaciers, and extreme weather conditions. This trip is recommended only for experienced mountaineers.

Weather

During the summer months from June to September, trail conditions are the most stable. Temperatures range from -5 to 10°C. This is the best time for climbing, but it is important to be aware of the rapid weather changes that can occur in the mountains.

In winter, the route to the summit of Mont Blanc is much more difficult and dangerous. For most of the winter, the peak is covered in snow and temperatures can drop below -30°C. Winter climbing is recommended only for experts with appropriate equipment.

Getting There

The closest airport is Geneva Airport (GVA) in Switzerland. From the airport, you can reach the town of Chamonix, from where buses run to Les Houches - the starting point of the Mont Blanc trail. You can also rent a car and drive to Les Houches on your own.

Starting Point

The starting point of the Mont Blanc trail is in the town of Les Houches. You can park your car at the "Bellevue" parking lot, from where the "Bellevue" cable car departs to the starting point of the trail.

Trail to the Summit:

The trail to the summit of Mont Blanc leads through glaciers, steep slopes, and exposed ridges. The trail is well marked, and hiking time is 10-12 hours. It is essential to have climbing equipment, such as crampons, ice axes, and harnesses. Climbing Mont Blanc is not recommended for beginner climbers.

Accommodation:

On the way to the summit, there is the Refuge du Goûter mountain hut, where you can spend the night before continuing your climb to the summit. However, it is necessary to book a place in the hut in advance.
