Kosovo's peak is located in the North Albanian Mountains in the Dinaric Mountains. Its altitude is 2,656 m above sea level. The peak is entirely located in Kosovo. It is considered to be the highest peak in Kosovo, although Wielka Rudoka may be slightly higher.

Introduction

aDjeravica Peak, at an altitude of 2,656 m above sea level, is the highest peak in Kosovo and the second highest in the Balkans. Climbing to the summit does not require climbing experience, but due to the length of the trail and the elevation gain, it is recommended to be in good physical condition

Weather

In summer, Djeravica has moderate temperatures ranging between 10 and 25 degrees Celsius. The trail is usually dry and well visible, but it is recommended to bring appropriate clothing for changing weather conditions.

In winter, the summit of Djeravica is covered in snow and temperatures drop below freezing. Climbing in winter is more difficult and requires appropriate equipment and skills for moving in winter conditions.

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Pristina Adem Jashari Airport. From the airport, you can reach the town of Junik (about 100 km away) by car rental, taxi or public transport.

Trailhead

The trailhead is located in the town of Junik. There are several parking lots in the area where you can leave your car before starting the hike.

Trail to the summit

The trail to the Djeravica summit leads through diverse terrain, including forests and meadows, as well as rocky sections. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. The estimated hiking time to the summit is 5-6 hours. Climbing does not require additional climbing equipment, but it is recommended to bring appropriate footwear and clothing.

Accommodation

There is no refuge on the way to the summit, so it is recommended to bring a tent and sleeping bag if you plan to spend the night in the mountains. Alternatively, you can consider accommodation in Junik before or after the hike.
