Introduction

Narodnaya is the highest peak of North Ural in Russia, reaching 1,895 meters above sea level. Climbing this peak is difficult and requires experience in mountain climbing. Narodnaya is mainly climbed through steep walls and gullies, which require the use of specialist equipment and skills.

Pogoda

In summer, Narodnaya can offer relatively friendly climbing conditions. Temperatures range from 10 to 20 degrees Celsius. However, conditions on the trail can be variable, so it is worth checking the weather forecast before setting out. You can expect wet and muddy sections on the approach.

Winter on Narodnaya is a completely different challenge. Temperatures can drop below -20 degrees Celsius, and the amount of snow can sometimes surprise you. Climbing in winter is possible only for very experienced mountaineers with appropriate equipment and preparation.

How to get there?

The nearest airport is Syktyvkar Airport, from which you can get to Manaraga Village by public transport or rented car. Syktyvkar Airport serves connections to Moscow and other major cities in Russia.

Starting point of the trail

The starting point of the trail to Narodnaya is in Manaraga Village. There is a parking lot near the village where you can leave your car before starting your climb.

Route to the top

The trail leads through dense forests and then up steep slopes and gullies. Trail markers are quite rare, so it is worth using a map and GPS. The estimated time to climb to the peak is 6-8 hours. Climbing Narodnaya requires the use of climbing equipment such as an ice axe, crampons, and a helmet.

Accommodation

There is no mountain hut on the way to the top. This means that you need to be prepared to camp in the wild. Remember to bring appropriate equipment such as a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad. Due to the difficulties of climbing and the lack of mountain huts, it is worth considering dividing the trip into two days to rest and regenerate.
